Taking good care of your skin
Cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise. Cleanse your face daily with a mild face wash, preferably neem-based and water. Moisturise after cleansing your face. Exfoliate, once or twice a week, subject to your individual needs.
Baking Soda
Mix baking soda and water. Dip a Q tip in the mixed paste and apply gently on the affected area. Wait for 10 minutes, rinse with cold water and repeat twice daily. Avoid this skincare treatment with skin irritation or excessive oiliness.
Lemon Juice
Cut a lemon or lime in half; rub one wedge on the affected surface. If there is a stinging sensation, don’t worry - it is a sign of improvement. Lemon has citric acid that kills acne-causing bacteria. Only thing is make sure to rinse your face from the lemon juice. Apply sunscreen before going out - this is because citric acid can amplify the risk of sun damage.
Raw Potato
Slice potatoes and place them on top of the affected area of the face or skin. Potato has anti-inflammatory properties that help in healing. Leave the potato slices for 5-10 minutes; rinse with ‘normal’ water.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is a good antibacterial agent. It eases acne spots and has no side-effects. Read the label or instructions before using it.
Aspirin
Take two aspirin tablets, grind and mix them with water, and apply it. Aspirin contains salicylic acid which effectively fights bacteria that causes acne. It can also dry out acne.
Alum
A natural astringent and
antiseptic, alum can work effectively for your acne. Apply alum on your
pimples, but avoid overdoing it because it can aggravate your acne.
Apple Cider VinegarApple cider vinegar can destroy dead skin cells as well as clear acne. Less is more since excess apple cider can harm the skin. Dilute apple cider with water before applying on your face. Wait for 10 minutes. Rinse with ‘normal’ water.
Toothpaste
Toothpaste for pimples? Toothpaste contains silica that helps to keep the moisture out and wipes out acne. Avoid toothpaste containing sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), which may be too harsh for your skin.
